Meet Mrs. Meier

My name is Susan Meier! I grew up in Bay City, Michigan. I attended Valley Lutheran High School in Saginaw, Michigan and Concordia University River Forest, Illinois.
After graduating with an Elementary Education degree in 2003, I taught 1st & 2nd Grade for two years in Rock Island, Illinois. In 2005, I married David Meier and started teaching 2nd Grade here at Immanuel.
In 2009, I received my Masters in Early Childhood from Northern Illinois University. My amazing husband is the Director of Christian Education at Immanuel. We have three incredible children, Clara, Evelyn and Will. I enjoy reading, camping with my family, and traveling.
I adore teaching 2nd Graders!  I love teaching them about God’s great love and watching them learn new concepts every day!

Meet Mrs. Leitner

My name is Cheryl Leitner. I went to Valparaiso University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I taught 5th grade at Neubert Elementary, and coached Sophomore Girl’s Basketball at Dundee-Crown High School.
My husband and I have been married for over 20 years and we have two amazing children, Daniel and Roslyn. I love teaching at Immanuel where I can share the Gospel with our children every day!

Classroom Overview

Welcome to our class! God is alive and at work in our lives and in the lives of our Second Graders!  We are very eager to discover what blessings our Heavenly Father has for us this year!

Second Graders are taught by our teaching team–Mrs. Meier and Mrs. Leitner! We LOVE teaching together and really enjoy having another person to plan and prepare the students. Mrs. Meier teaches full days Monday through Wednesday, in addition to Thursday morning. Mrs. Leitner teaches Thursday afternoon and all day on Friday. We share Math and Religion teaching responsibilities. Mrs. Meier teaches Reading, Language Arts, Spelling, Handwriting, P.E., and Phonics. Mrs. Leitner teaches Science, Social Studies, and Art.
