Music – Parent Info and Supporting Notes

Providing Family Support to Immanuel’s Musicians

Parents and families who support our school musicians really make a difference! We are truly thankful for the parents and family members who provide transportation to early morning rehearsals and performances, encourage students to practice at home, attend performances, and support our various groups in a wide variety of ways. Here at Immanuel, parents of extra-curricular music activity participants in grades 4-8 are considered a part of “Supporting Notes,” the group that supports the students involved in band, chorus, and handbells/handchimes.

Supporting Our Musicians Sign Up Sheet

Each family of a music participant is asked to fill out a “Supporting Our Musicians Signup Sheet” (link below) at the beginning of the school year, indicating one event at which they can help support the music program. This sheet should be returned to the school office.

Florist Quality Poinsettia and Hanging Basket Sales to benefit our Fine Arts Programs

In November and then again in the spring, Immanuel’s band, chorus and bell/chime students sell plants that will be used to decorate the stage and gym for a school music concert. Following the event, plants are picked up/delivered by an Immanuel music participant. Proceeds from these sales provide additional funds for necessities such as new music, equipment, Fine Arts Festival fees, and more.

Lutheran Schools’ Fine Arts Festival

Each year, Immanuel music students participate with many other Lutheran school students in this festival at Trinity, Roselle . The music-filled day begins early in the morning and culminates in a grand 7:00 p.m. evening concert featuring performances by the mass bells, mass band, mass choir, and selected student entries from participating schools. What a wonderful opportunity this is for our students to grow in their musical abilities and experiences! The 2018 Fine Arts Festival will be held in Roselle on Friday, April 13th.   To learn some general information about the festival, check out the 2018 FAQ’s document, below.  Click on the other button for the detailed letter from Mrs. Becker given to student musicians in January, 2017.
